ÉTS Launches the First Academic Hub on Industry 4.0 and the Siemens Chair on Industry 4.0 Technology Integration

“The fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0), with its automation and digitization, is creating waves of disruptive technologies across the industry and will drive a major change in tomorrow’s workforce.
The ÉTS Innovation 4.0 Hub will mobilize and combine the expertise of more than 50 professors in five ÉTS departments in order to address the future needs of Industry 4.0 in five key industrial sectors: aerospace, energy, health and safety, construction and ground transportation. In addition to establishing integrated research and development (R&D) projects and national and international partnerships, the hub will develop courses and programs that will help prepare the next generation of highly qualified personnel to face the future technology challenges of Industry 4.0. We are proud to have the Siemens Chair on Industry 4.0 as the first major Hub 4.0 project.
The Hub will build on the success of AÉROÉTS (created in 2010) and Aerospace 4.0 (created in 2016). Professor Hany Moustapha, holder of the Siemens Chair on Industry 4.0, will be the Director of the Hub 4.0.“

Hany Moustapha presented the seven key research areas covered by the Hub. “The Innovation 4.0 Hub will include the Internet of Things, Data Analytics, System Integration, Smart and Additive Manufacturing, Augmented and Virtual Reality, Autonomous Systems, as well as Cyber Security,” stated the distinguished professor. He also reminded guests that the Siemens Chair, co-financed by NSERC and MITACS, is the first industrial chair in Canada on Industry 4.0 which combines the expertise of 20 professors from ÉTS, Concordia and McGill Universities. The three major projects are included in the Chair are: Digital Multidisciplinary Analysis and Design Optimization (led by McGill Prof. Michael Kokkolaras), a Digital Technology Platform for Supply Chain (led by Concordia Prof. Nadia Bhuiyan) and Advanced Manufacturing Automation, Digitization and Optimization (led by ÉTS Prof. Antoine Tahan).
